As part of a module on Signals and Systems I worked as part of a team of three which designed and built an Interactive Software Equaliser. We worked together to design filters in Matlab and build a user interface (UI) which allowed for a user to control the volume of specific frequency bands. The Interactive…

About Me

About Myself
My name’s Mark, I am 25, from Ireland and I have recently graduated from a Master of Engineering in Healthcare Technologies after previously graduating from a Bachelor of Electronic Engineering with Computers.
I chose to do this master’s programme because my previous experience in a medical technology company sparked my interest in the industry where there is a strong focus on quality and reliability. During this masters I completed engineering modules which can be applied to not only the medical technology industry but any technology industry.
I have a huge interest in health, fitness and sport and I have played team sports for over 14 years. I like to train regularly and keep fit and healthy but I am also a firm believer in living a balanced lifestyle where time is dedicated to work, exercise and socialising.
I am very easy to work with and also very keen to travel for employment so I get to see more of the world while gaining valuable experience.
Experience
Prior PLM Medical
Product Development Assistant
Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
Assisting in the analysis and technical report writing for the adjustment of manufacturing tools being used in the production of a new medical device
Product Development Technician
Jul 2015 - Sept 2015
I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team that was responsible for carrying out tests on a medical device and it’s material properties. I performed tensile testing on plastics, performed high-speed camera analysis on a medical device’s function, carried out force testing on the medical device and more.
Intern Electronic Engineer
Mar 2014 - Sept 2014
I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team that was responsible or designing and building a smart metrology fixture capable of automatically acquiring multiple measurements of a component at the push of a button. I had to design and build electronic circuits which created a link between a programmable embedded system and pneumatics to control the automation sequences. I developed the C program for the embedded system from the ground up which is capable of measuring temperature, controlling pneumatics, controlling a CCD Micrometer, controller RS232 communications to a PC much more. The smart metrology fixture is interfaced with a data-collection software package on a PC which displays and stores the measurements taken by the automated smart fixture.
Intern Technician
Jun 2013 - Sept 2013
I worked as part of team with mechanical designers and tool makers to build multiple smart metrology fixtures to be used in the medical device industry. Each smart fixture used either pneumatically controlled touch probes or a CCD Micrometer to take multiple measurements of a component. I was responsible for building the electronic circuits which controlled the measurement instruments and the data collection along with designing and implementing suitable pneumatic circuits for controlling the touch probes. I was section lead for an external CE audit assessment where all smart metrology fixtures and stations needed to appropriately approved for their intended use. This is involved completing the majority of the documents in order to achieve the CE approval and making necessary adjustments to the fixtures and stations to ensure it complied. I also went on site to multiple medical device companies in order to test and install the smart metrology fixtures.
Q-Fix Phone Repairs
Owner & Repair Technician
May 2012 - Jun 2013
I used my confidence of electronics to investigate the inner components of smart-phones and realised that I could potentially start a business for repairing damaged smart-phones. I then setup a small business on my own which was responsible for phone repairs.

Certificate in Medical Sciences (RCSI)
September 2015
I studied anatomy and physiology in the Royal College of Surgeons for two weeks along with other engineers working in the medical device/technology industry. It consisted of lectures on human anatomy and physiology followed by time spent in the anatomy lab which was an invaluable experience in getting a foundation of the systems in the human body.
My Skills
Projects
Multiband Frequency Spectrum Analyser
As part of a module on Operational Amplifiers I worked as part of a team of three to design and build an 8-Band Frequency Spectrum Analyser. The spectrum analyser takes an audio input and splits the signal into 8 different signals to be used for 8 different frequency bands. Operational amplifier bandpass filters were designed…
Multiple Smart Metrology Fixtures & Stations
During the summer months of 2013 I worked as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of mechanical designers, mechanical assembly technicians, IT technicians and a manager of operations in the Metrology Division of Prior PLM Medical. I was responsible for: Schematic Designs for Printed Circuit Boards to be used in Smart Metrology Fixtures Section lead…
Smart Medical Device
As part of my final year in Electronic Engineering I collaborated with a Medical Technology Company (Prior PLM Medical) to take on a project entitled “Designing an Inhaler with Active Monitoring and Feedback to Combat Poor Patient Adherence and Compliance”. There is currently a huge problem with patient adherence and compliance in the control of…
Smart Metrology Fixture
As part of my third year in Electronic Engineering I was required to work for 6 months for Industrial Work Experience. I worked in Prior PLM Medical on multiple projects with the main one being the development of a new Automated Smart Metrology Fixture. Previous Smart Metrology Fixtures required multiple controls for the user which…
